A friend and I knit outside on our lunch hour. This very kind lady came up to us and told us that she thought it was awesome that we were knitting in public.

After reading a very interesting debate on How About Orange’s blog today, I thought that I would pose the same question to you out there.

Craft vs. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) – What do you think about the two way to describe handmade goods? Does crafting to you sound like cheesy Popsicle stick crafts? Does DIY make you think of that bird house project you never finished?

What’s your view on the two?

So, I was thinking the other day that I would be nice to have another sort of indie craft sale downtown. Since, A. and I have event management experience, it would be a fun idea to go ahead and organize one.

I really admire what they have in the states. Like MakeFaire, Felt Club sort of craft sales and all the workshops that they offer at these sales. I keep thinking to myself that ‘Hey! I could do this for the Ottawa craft community.”

We could offer workshops, craft sales and food vendors targeted towards a younger hip audience, but invite the grandma’s too. I think it could really take off.

So, in order to see if it would work or not. I thought I would start with a small poll question to see what my fellow bloggers thought about the idea.
