New Water Bottle

Recycle #7I’m really confused. I read some where that you could return your Bisphenol A bottles for a refund without receipts. Has anyone done this yet?

I have two of these Rubbermaid endurance water bottles, a Nalgene bottleĀ and one Starbucks water bottle that I would consider returning. If I do return them, I would like some sort of a refund, otherwise I will probably hang on to them.

Today, I would like to purchase a new water bottle. I like the design for the SIGG bottles, but am not stuck on them. Do you have any suggestions for a new water bottle?

- J.

update May 13: I still haven’t purchased one of these water bottles. Does anyone know where to pick one up in the downtown core? Rideau Centre?

Update later May 13: I just purchased this new SIGG bottle: Hopefully I get it before the long weekend. :) Bought it from Curbside Cycle. So far good service, but $10 shipping!

  • YES! Go to MEC or somewhere and get a stainless steel water bottle. That way you avoid plastic altogether and it keeps your water a lot cooler than plastic bottles do. They start at about $10, are environmentally friendly, look cool and last forever. As for your old bottles, try to think of creative, non-food ways to use them. I don’t think anyone is taking them back and recycling will only pass the problem on to the environment anyway.

  • I haven’t heard about the refund program, but I’d definitely have a few to turn in.

I purchased an aluminum BPA-free lined SIGG bottle 2 months back and loved it so much that I’ve bought several others for friends and family gifts. I got the Butterfly Dreams purple one, but there are a bunch of styles. They are easy to clean, easy to grab, lightweight, keep liquids cold or a long time, and are tested and 100% safe. Here is the one I got, and they also have thermal ones and pouches, etc.. definitely recommend these as they’re lighter than stainless, and they don’t leach nickel like stainless can. Good luck in your purchase!

  • @XUP: Was in MEC (on Richmond) this weekend, couldn’t find any metal water bottles. Where in the world are they?

  • Try the Expedition Shop in the market. That’s where my Sigg came from (with Sheep on it!). There’s also Think Lunch (on Bank between Albert and Slater) that carries metal water bottles (their own line).

  • Natural Food Pantry also just got a shipment in @ $12 each — lots of funky colours.

  • I’ve just bought a SIGG recently, and it’s great! I’m actually thinking of getting a second, smaller one now too! I bought mine (1 litre) at Bubblicity (bubble tea place) in the Market… I think it was $29 and they had tons of designs!

  • Hi Suzette

I did go to the Think Lunch on Bank. They did have those SIGG bottles, but your right in their own brand. I’m happy with the one I purchased above. :)

Although, I did still look around in Think Lunch. What a place! Have you ever eaten there? It looks so healthy and fresh. Their prices look reasonable too.

  • XUP! I’ll have to check out the Natural Food Pantry. I can’t wait to buy another bottle :)

  • I was going to blog the Think Lunch place, but I ate there and it was VERY disappointing. I didn’t even finish my sandwich because it was sub-mediocre. I thought I should give them a second chance before giving them a negative review on my blog, since they’re new and everything - but the thought of eating there a second time is too off-putting.

  • Hi folks, we stock over 100+ styles, sizes and designs of SIGG bottles and accessories. Please check us out @www.keriba.com. We offer delivery & pickup!
