My Cheapeats is in my hands
![]()
Cheapeats Ottawa is now here and in stores!
Last night, A. and I headed out to the Cheapeats Book Launch and had a wonderful time. I am so nervous going to these sorts of events, because I always think that I’m going say something stupid or sound really nervous. Last night I wasreally nervous, because I got a chance to speak to Lex last night. I was so excited to meet her, she’s someone that I really admire. I think that what she is doing with this book is absolutely amazing and many people are going to benefit from a book like this. I really admire that.
Last night the book launch was held at the East African Restaurant off Rideau St. A. and I were both a little unsure how this was going to go. I was so excited when I arrived. The restaurant was really ethnic looking (to me anyway, A. and I mostly spend our times in pubs). I loved the atmosphere. I was a little disappointed that I had so much to eat at dinner, because when we got to try some of the restaurants food I wasn’t very hungry. It was very delicious. At the event, I had to make A. promise me that we would come back.
The beer was a wonderful treat as well. It was Beau’s Natural Brewery that was the sponsor of the evening. I find that A. is sometimes picky with his beer and he absolutely loved it. He spoke to the bartender for a good amount of time about the beer and the bottles it came in. Keep an eye out for Beau’s Natural Brewery, the bartender said that it will be in LCBO’s in 2 weeks.
And.. of course the best part of the evening was getting a copy of CheapEats Ottawa. Oh! I am still reading it page by page as we speak. The highlights for me in the book, was to have Sammy’s Pizzeria mentioned in the book. The guys that own this restaurant work so hard and are good at what they do, they defiantly deserve to be mentioned in this book. Plus I absolute love the food there.
If you haven’t gotten your hands on a copy of CheapEats Ottawa in the past 24 hours, go out and get a copy. You can buy them through Lex’s blog or in stores.

I’m not only a bartender, I also founded the brewery!
I’m glad you enjoyed my beer.
Cheers,

I was just about to leave a comment telling you that Steve was the founder of Beau’s… but it seems he’s already all over that.
It was a pleasure meeting you guys, I’m really glad you were able to come.

Yes, we were there.
I was speaking to Lex and she said that you were going to be there. She was wondering if we were related. I said no unfortunately.
Once A. found out that you were going to be there, he was on a mini-hunt to find you, but we both had no idea what you look like.
We’ll have to try another time. It would have been nice to say hello to you.

You guys! I was sure you had met or I would have dragged you to each other. The funny thing is you were hanging out on completely opposite sides of the party all night.
