QC – Les canes et le Caribou

Cold Caribou

…. we head out to the restaurant for a fancy fondue dinner at this little restaurant near Le Chateau Frontenac. The restaurant was really cute.  The six of us where seated at the small round table.

We looked at the menu and most of us decided to get a trio-fondue dinner. A. and I’s dinner included a cheese/bread fondue to start. It was very good and cheesy. There was defiantly no Cheez Whiz sauce here. The second course was an onion/beef broth soup dip for our raw caribou and red deer. It was delicious and very filling. If that wasn’t enough food, A. and I had a chocolate fondue with fruit to finish. Delicious!

During out amazing meal, A. decided that we should all have a shot of Caribou, the official drink of the Carnival. The shot was served cold, which we later realized that it is supposed to be served warm and tastes a million times better warm.

After dinner we headed outside to their outdoor ice bar patio. We then had a warm shot of Caribou. We sat on the ice couch near the outdoor fireplace for a little while.

Afterwards, we decided to go to find une cane to fill up with le Caribou. One cane is about $10, then to fill it up at an SAQ Bistro, it cost approx. $40. That’s allot! So, we only ended up filling up one cane and drinking off of it. Not all the sanitary, but it did the trick.

After we filled up the cane we headed to the Loto-Quebec Outdoor Dance Party at the Place de l’Assemblée festival. It was fun. They where having a country themed outdoor dance party. They were teaching the audience all the dance steps. We also visited the ice castle and saw some kid inside get his tongue stuck to a pole. After the ice castle we headed out to see some of the snow sculptures. I will post pictures soon of the snow and ice sculptures.

The next morning…
